MY QUESTIONS FOR YOU
Every remarkable photoshoot begins with a common but often overlooked element: clear and effective communication between the photographer and their clients before their session.
Making a little time for pre-shoot dialogue can help take your images from merely good to scroll-stopping, or awe-inducing, emotionally impactful photos that add a more personal touch to your photoshoot.
Answering my questionnaire is very helpful for a number of reasons. It’s our conversation starter–it helps me get insight into what you are specifically looking for so I can tailor the session to meet your needs.
How did your story start?
I want to know how you two met and when did you know your partner was the one? (This question applies to engagement, wedding and yes even family sessions understanding how your story began creates a more personal experience)
Who will be in front of my lens?
Tell me about who will be taking part in your photo session? What are their names, age and relation?
What makes you unique?
What is one fun or interesting fact about each family member or your partner? What is something you do together that’s meaningful or different?
How would you describe yourself with 3 adjectives?
How would your friends describe you?
What is your style and vision?
Do you have reference images or a mood board? Are you more minimalist, bold or classic? I want to know what feeling you want your photos to communicate.
Are you more introverted or extroverted?
It’s important for me to respect your preferences, and gauging your comfort level in front of the camera can help me know how to guide your shoot.
Is there any additional information I should know about your shoot?
You may have special information that isn’t asked in my questionnaire. For example: injuries, pregnancies, dislikes, or specific concerns. I want to be considerate and respectful during our session and make sure everyone is happy and comfortable.
What are your top 5 favorite songs?
Music can be a powerful tool to help shift your mood in seconds, lift spirits, make you feel inspired, loosened up and most importantly to me – feel empowered and confident. I love making playlists!
Share your favorite music genre and all-time top 5 song playlist with me! If you need help in choosing music, it would be my pleasure to help. I always bring my portable bluetooth speaker along to help set the mood.

FAQ

What is the best time for an outdoor shoot?
Most outdoor photoshoots happen in or within an hour of sunrise or sunset. It is considered by many to be the best time for outdoor photography because the light is pure magic.
But I never limit my shoots to the golden hours, especially if you’re planning on photographing in open shade, which you can do at any time of day.
Even photographing in full sunlight is good if you want breathtaking bokeh and sunflairs or a cool modern fashion vibe. I am a master with natural light.
For the more adventurous and wanting to try something different night photos are an option. I like to start out with a golden hour that leads into the blue hour.
Can you have both candid and traditional posed photos?
I surprisingly get asked this question often and I can absolutely capture both candid and {naturally} posed images during our photo sessions. I will help ease you into a flow that allows for those beautifully imperfect, real-life moments and a few more guided shots with everyone snuggled up together. Think: relaxed, connected, and full of feeling; not stiff or overly posed.
Posed doesn’t mean stiff or formal in my world. My approach to posing is relaxed and natural. I’ll gently guide you into flattering positions that feel like you…without the forced smiles.
Can we choose the location for our photo shoot?
A location can influence the feel and vibe of your photo shoot. I am open to capturing your portraits in a place that holds meaning to you or I can suggest some amazing places!
I love exploring new places and can always travel outside of Wasatch. Depending on the location I am always down with traveling to a beautiful spot. I charge a reasonable traveling fee for spots that are over an hour drive from Heber, just ask!
My sessions are mainly outdoors; I always suggest bringing an extra pair of comfortable shoes that you can slip on and off to feel more comfortable.
I've had a lot of requests to shoot by water and if you are comfortable being photographed getting a little wet with muddy feet, PLEASE DO IT! I would say somewhere around 95% of my water sessions end with families or couples jumping in the water anyway, so at the very least prepare to get dirty and wet by the end and bring a change of clothes. Trust me, it's so worth it!
What do we wear?
What you wear is an expression of who you are! Don't be afraid to be creative. Complement and coordinate by finding a color palette that you love and choose outfits that complement each other without being too matchy, matchy.
Opt for neutrals with a few pops of color or a softer pallet that has different ranges in tone of the same shades. Try and stay away from 'blue jeans and a white t-shirt' for everyone or outfits that don't allow personality.
We are creating a memory of your favorite day. I want you to choose clothing that reflects who you are and makes you feel beautiful and confident!
There are by no means rules, and if you have more eclectic tastes and love lots of color, I encourage you to put as much of your personality into your clothing selection as possible. Don't forget about accessories and layering!
Please feel free to reach out to me and I can make more in-depth suggestions.
How long does it take to receive the final edited photos?
I understand the anticipation of seeing your final photos. I am proud of the fact that I never use AI.
My editing process typically takes 2-4 weeks, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of editing required. I prioritize quality and attention to detail to deliver exceptional images that exceed your expectations.
What happens if the weather is unfavorable on the day of an outdoor shoot?
Believe it or not I have had some of the most epic looking skies and incredible shoots with cloudy days or unexpected weather. I am a pro with handling outdoor weather. You will be in good hands.
With that being said, sometimes the weather may be too intense and not ideal for your shoot. Not everyone embraces stormy skies and a little rain or snow. We can discuss alternatives such as rescheduling the session. I want to ensure the best possible outcome for your photos, and I am flexible in adapting to unforeseen circumstances.
Do you do destination weddings and elopements?
I LOVE traveling! Just ask and we can discuss the cost and logistics. I am willing to go almost anywhere!
Can we get a second shooter?
Absolutely, I can provide an amazing second shooter with my premium packages or upon request.
I take pride in my work and would only offer an experienced, trusted professional photographer to help shoot alongside me. Second shooters are more ideal for weddings and large group event photos.
